TYPE: A28R

PART NAME: CYLINDER HEADS

Akasaka Diesels Limited, founded in 1910 in Yaizu, Japan, is a renowned manufacturer of marine diesel engines. Since becoming a licensed producer of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ UE two?stroke engines in 1960, Akasaka has developed a reputation for high-quality, fuel-efficient propulsion systems used globally in cargo vessels, tankers, ferries, and fishing boats.

Applications

Main propulsion engines for cargo ships, tankers, passenger ferries, fishing vessels, workboats, and tugboats
Auxiliary power and generator use onboard
Ideal for new builds, engine overhauls, and repowering projects

Features

Available in both 4?stroke (Type A, AX, K, E, U) and 2?stroke (UEC?based LS/J, LS?, LSE) configurations
High fuel efficiency via long?stroke design, Miller cycle, and advanced lubrication systems
Robust components: anti?polishing rings, bore cooling, and optional automatic cylinder lubrication
Environmental tech: diesel particulate filters, selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and emissions compliance with IMO Tier standards
Custom engine control systems that integrate propeller load management for optimized energy use

Types :
Four?Stroke Engines
Type A: Long-stroke, high-efficiency engines (1,618–3,309?kW; ~210–310?rpm)
Type AX: More compact with improved consumption vs. Type A (1,176–1,912?kW; ~260–320?rpm)
Type AT: Upgraded with Miller cycle and high-pressure Pmax (e.g. AT33 models around 1,499?kW)
Type K & E: Compact medium-speed engines for fishing and training vessels (K: ~956–1,471?kW; E: ~1,323–1,618?kW)
Type U: Mid-speed engines suited for ferries and government/marine vessels (1,838–2,427?kW at ~720?rpm)

Two?Stroke Engines (Mitsubishi?UE licensed):
Type LSJ / LSH: Low-speed long-stroke engines (2,000–10,080?kW; ~85–230?rpm)
Type LS?: Enhanced light-weight engines for improved fuel economy (1,655–4,530?kW; ~157–215?rpm)
Type LSE: Environmentally friendly models (2,000–11,040?kW; ~96–167?rpm), jointly developed with Mitsubishi Heavy and Wärtsilä
